Faculty Hiring Timeline

What to expect as you journey toward joining our academic community.

  • Explore Faculty Opportunities 

    Browse our open faculty positions on the University of Sunnydale Careers page. Each listing describes teaching expectations, research support, and departmental culture so you can imagine your future here.

     
  • Submit Your Application Materials 

    Faculty applications typically include a CV, cover letter, teaching philosophy, and sometimes research samples. Once you apply, you’ll receive a confirmation email so you know everything arrived safely.

     
  • Initial Review of Applications 

    Our search committee thoughtfully reviews all applicant materials. If your background and expertise align with department needs, you’ll be invited to move forward in the process.

     
  • First Round Interview 

    Selected candidates participate in an initial virtual interview—usually a conversation with members of the search committee. This is your opportunity to share your teaching values, research interests, and enthusiasm for Sunnnydale’s mission.

     
  • Campus Interview Experience 

    Finalists are invited to campus for a full visit. Depending on the role, this may include:

    • A teaching demonstration
    • A research or scholarly presentation
    • Meetings with faculty, students, and campus leaders
    • A tour of Sunnydale’s academic spaces

    We want you to truly experience the community, collaboration, and spirit that make Sunnydale special.

     
  • Reference and Credential Checking 

    As finalists progress, we’ll reach out to references and verify any required credentials. We communicate throughout this stage so you’re always informed.

     
  • Offer and Appointment 

    Once a candidate is selected, the department chair or dean will reach out with an offer, followed by an official appointment letter outlining rank, salary, and start date. We’re here to support you through the transition into your new role.

     
  • Welcome to the Faculty Community 

    After acceptance, you’ll receive onboarding information, access to teaching resources, and introductions to your new colleagues. We’re excited to help you settle in, connect with the campus, and begin your journey as part of Sunnydale’s academic family.
